Afterhours

(Smythe jacket – similar, Étoile Isabel Marant tee, Siwy jeans, Ash boots, Jérôme Dreyfuss bag – similar here and here)
The hubby and I have seen some pretty cool concerts in the last month or so, and about a week ago, we added Bonobo to our list. I always like when an artist sounds just as solid in person as on a record, and he definitely didn’t disappoint for sure. Concert attire took the form of one of my favorite foolproof combos of choice which is a little mix of black, grey, and green with a touch of leopard. It’s a quick fix that always does the trick in a way. And the jacket in particular is one of those pieces I tend to reach for a lot, but more so in these warmer months. And yeah, massive fun was completely had, and an impromptu photo shoot on the way back home finished off a rather stellar night.

Kate Lanphear

One of those people who epitomizes rocker chic to the fullest is without a doubt Kate Lanphear, style director at T Magazine. To me, she just has this perpetually cool sense of style, and I always find myself completely drawn to pretty much everything that she’s wearing. This look in particular was one that totally got me recently. Lovin’ the whole combo which I’d say is very representative of her trademark style. And as someone who personally has a soft spot for all things leather, she definitely provides a ton of inspiration on that front. I saw her last month at Coachella, and believe me, she looked just as badass in person.

Nostalgic

(Equipment blouse – similar, Siwy jeans – similar, Saint Laurent boots – also here, Club Monaco bag)
This top will always and forever remind me of these really cool snake print LA Gear tennis shoes that I had in high school. The color and pattern is spot on. I liked that pair so freaking much, and if I’d kept them, I may have started sporting them again. Although I’ve graduated from those old tennies, I think it’s cool that years later, I’m also wearing a print all too reminiscent of my wardrobe’s past. I guess in a way, some certain elements in fashion just stand the test of time. And besides the fact that I take a little trip down memory lane whenever wearing this blouse, it’s one of those pieces that always comes in handy for times when I don’t feel like putting any thought into what I want to wear but still kinda want to look like I do.

Coachella 2013

Second year in a row of going to Coachella, and it was definitely just as fun as the first time. Had a blast hanging out with the hubby and some friends, taking in all the sights, and checking out a lot of shows. We saw some incredibly cool performances, but the most memorable for me were without a doubt Paul Kalkbrenner, The xx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I’m completely wiped out after three full days at the fest, but it was so worth it. Some pics of what I wore coming up.

Spring things

One of the things I’m feeling for spring is definitely distressed boyfriend shorts, and I’m really into this pair by J Brand. I could totally imagine them paired with of course tanks and tees or dressed up a little with something silk like that 3.1 Phillip Lim top or even also the printed Equipment piece. Those thunderbolts are calling my name. And as for shoes and accessories that I’ve been lovin’ lately, The Row shades, Jérôme Dreyfuss clutch, and Valentino slingbacks are all definitely on my list. Especially those heels.
